Author: Jolene Stockman
Publisher: CreateSpace

Book Summary:
A total meltdown. The whole school watching. Now Poppy’s an ex-straight-A with no Plan B.
When Poppy Johnson throws away a full scholarship to Columbia, she can only blame the jelly beans. The yucky green ones? Midnight cram sessions and Saturday’s spent studying. The delicious red? The family legacy: Columbia, and a future in finance. Except now it’s starting to look like Poppy’s jelly bean theory is wrong. School has been her life until, but maybe it’s time to start living now.
Poppy has thirty days to try a new life. No school, no studying. Just jumping into every possible world. Thirty days to find her passion, her path, and maybe even love. The Jelly Bean Crisis is officially on.

The Jelly Bean Crisis is a fantastic book. I have to say that i wasn't so sure that I would have liked it, but then I started reading ... and I wasn't able to stop until I finished it!

Poppy Johnson has spent her whole life doing what her family wanted, believing that this was the right way to happiness.
When all she has always dreamed about is becoming reality, Poppy begins to wonder if that's what she really wants, if her life planned by others can really make her happy.
So Poppy decides to take a gap month. No school, no homework or responsibilities. She has thirty days to find her way to happiness.

This story was really intersting and original! I loved the whole Jelly Bean Theory, and the way Poppy adapts it at any situation!
The author has done a great job with the construction of the story and the evolution of the characters.
In the book she has included many elements that push the reader to think and reflect about Poppy's life, and, pretty soon, as also happened to me, even on his own.

Poppy is the type of character whom you immediately sympathize with, and you love from the first page. She's a simple girl who never had the chance to discover her true passions, who has always tried to make others happy and never think about herself.

The other characters are also well defined and built, and above all, they evolve and change, just as the protagonist. The Jelly Bean Crisis in fact, will affect all the characters in the book, who will learn something in those thirty days.

My vote is 4 stars! The Jelly Bean Crisis is a fresh, fast and fun read!Recommended for everyone!

  3. Anch'io sto vivendo una situazione del genere e mi riconosco abbastanza nella protagonista. Penso proprio che dovrei leggerlo, magari potrebbe darmi qualche dritta!
